Your sun sign — what most people mean by “your sign” — is the sun’s placement the moment you were born. Your moon sign is the moon’s. Your rising sign, or Ascendant, is the sign climbing the eastern horizon at the exact time and place of your birth — which is why astrology asks for both. These three set up your life; the rest deepens the telling.
